CHAMPAIGN COUNTY DEMS CONGRATULATE PRESIDENT-ELECT JOE BIDEN AND VICE PRESIDENT-ELECT KAMALA HARRIS ON THEIR VICTORY.
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL — Per the Associated Press decision desk, the Champaign County Democrats would like to congratulate Joesph R Biden and Kamala Devi Harris on their victory for President and Vice President of the United States of America! This win is due in large part to the hundreds of thousands of organizers around the country who fought local battles as we did here at home.
“For the past four years, local Republicans have leaned into Trump’s hateful and dangerous rhetoric. This election — delivered to you by the work and organizing of Black women — is a declaration on the future of this nation,” says Chair Carol Ammons “the Democratic party came together to save this country from itself and I could not be more relieved.”
The Champaign County Democratic Central Committee would like to thank their candidates, campaign staff, precinct committee members and volunteers, for the tireless work through this campaign season. Since June we have had 200+ individual volunteers, 1,364 volunteer shifts, 50,000 bags of lit packed, 37,000 doors visited (some more than once!), and 5,000 calls made to voters. We are proud to have found safe ways to campaign through a pandemic despite the challenges.
Finally, the Champaign County Democratic Central Committee would like to commend AaronAmmons, his stellar staff, and all the poll workers for running a free and fair election in the face of so much adversity. Despite COVID-19 and a ridiculous lawsuit filed by the Illinois RepublicanParty in an effort to suppress the vote, our election authority remained steadfast in protecting the voters of this county and we thank him for that. The sad reality is that Republicans can’t win without cheating. The results of this election prove that when every vote counts, Democrats, win. And when Democrats win, everyone wins. The Champaign County Dems are proud to have run progressive candidates and once again congratulates each of them. We'll see you in 2021 for the municipal elections!
